Emergency Plumber in Miami, FL
Water where it should not be does not wait for business hours. Call now, shut the water off if you can, and we will help you decide what to do next.
Call first: describing what you see helps us tell you what to do in the next few minutes.
What counts as a plumbing emergency
A plumbing emergency is any problem where waiting makes the damage bigger: a burst or split pipe, a supply line spraying behind a wall, a water heater leaking onto the floor, or a toilet and floor drain pushing sewage back up into the house.
In Miami, water moves fast through concrete-block construction and tile floors. It runs under baseboards, wicks up drywall and finds its way into the slab edge, so a leak that looks small at 6 p.m. can mean wet cabinets, swollen trim and a mold smell by the weekend.
This page is for the urgent stuff. If your problem is a slow drip or a drain that is merely sluggish, the leak detection and drain cleaning pages are a better fit and usually mean a calmer, planned visit.
Call right away if you notice
- Water spraying or running from a pipe, fitting or fixture that will not stop when you close the fixture valve
- A ceiling that is bulging, dripping or stained and growing, especially under a bathroom or the water heater
- Sewage or dirty water coming up from a toilet, shower or floor drain
- No water at all, or a sudden drop in pressure across the whole house
- The sound of running water when every tap and appliance is off
- A water heater leaking from the tank or the relief valve discharge line

Stop the water
On the phone we walk you through closing the right valve: the fixture stop, the shutoff at the water heater, or the main valve, which in many Miami homes is near the meter by the street or at the front wall of the house.
Protect what you can
Move rugs, electronics and cabinet contents out of the wet area, shut off power to any outlet that water has reached, and take a few photos for your records.
Find the failure
We locate the burst section, failed fitting or blocked line. Emergency fixes are about stopping the damage first, then deciding what is repaired now and what is better planned.
Repair or make safe
Where a full repair is possible on the spot we do it. If a part has to be ordered, we make the line safe so the house is not without water longer than it has to be.
What drives the cost of an emergency visit
We do not publish flat prices because no two emergencies look alike. These are the factors that decide the bill, so you can ask about each of them.
Where the problem is
An exposed supply line under a sink is a different job than a leak inside a wall or beneath the slab, where access work comes first.
Pipe material and age
Copper, CPVC, PEX, galvanized and cast iron all fail differently and need different fittings and techniques to repair.
Parts on hand
A common fitting can be replaced the same visit. A specialty valve or heater part may mean a second trip.
Extent of the damage
Plumbing repair and water damage cleanup are separate work. We fix the pipe; drying and rebuilding is usually a different trade.
Why call El Doctor De Las Casas in an emergency
When water is on the floor, the last thing you need is a runaround. El Doctor De Las Casas is owner-operated, so you are explaining the problem to the person who will be dealing with it.
We will tell you honestly what is an emergency and what can wait until a planned visit. Not every drip needs a rush call, and we would rather say so than treat every call the same way.
Emergency calls across Miami
We cover Miami and nearby areas. Tell us your neighborhood when you call so we can tell you what to expect. Area pages for Little Havana and Miami Beach explain what we commonly find in older homes and island buildings.
Frequently asked questions
How do I shut off the water to my whole house in Miami?
Look for the main shutoff valve near the water meter, often in a box by the street or the front yard, or at the point where the line enters the house. Turn it clockwise until it stops. If you cannot find or turn it, close the stop valve under the affected fixture or at the water heater and call us.
Is a toilet backing up into the shower an emergency?
Yes. When sewage comes up in the lowest drain in the house, the main sewer line is usually blocked. Stop using water, keep people and pets out of the area, and call, because every flush adds to the backup.
Will you come out if the leak is only a drip?
A steady drip from a fixture is not an emergency, but a drip from a ceiling or a wall can be. Describe where it is and how fast it is growing on the phone, and we will tell you whether it needs a same-day look or a planned visit.
Should I turn off the electricity if water reached an outlet?
If water has reached outlets, switches or appliances, shut off the affected circuit at the breaker panel if you can do it safely and without standing in water. If the panel itself is wet, stay away and call an electrician as well.
Does insurance cover a burst pipe?
Many homeowner policies cover sudden pipe failures but not wear-and-tear leaks. Take photos before anything is moved, keep any failed part, and ask your insurer what they need. We can describe in writing what we found and fixed.
